Life Out There?
Posted by Fred under Random Thoughts
I suspect the only proof I have that there is intelligent life in the universe is the fact they have not tried to contact us.
I can only imagine how we look when you view the Earths occupants from a distance. Humans may likely be the only species ever to know they are causing their own extinction and still do nothing to change that course.
I highly suspect humans are the only ones that will argue whether there is enough proof of their demise. How much “proof” does one need? Take global warming (or is it cooling this week?). Perhaps the earth is warming and perhaps we, the human race, are the cause of it. I am being generous with the “perhaps” but I am fairly certain that Ducks, Dolphins and the majestic Platypus have nothing to do with it. It is also possible that this global warming is a natural cause of events. We really don’t have much more than 100 years of documentation, so for all we know, the normal cycle of the planet is 250 years or so of hot and cold flashes.
With that said, there is certainly sufficient documentation that the planet is changing. There is also sufficient documentation that we are using up the planets resources at an expediential rate. I suspect that alone should be enough to seriously look at our behavior and make changes…just in case. Alas, it is not.
If there is no other life out there, not only does that make our plight even more tragic, it would be incredible waste of space.

Why must people always think that the universe is filled with beings with greater powers than ours? What if they are stuck on their planets just as we are stuck on ours? What if they are also wondering what is out their. I am SURE there is other life. It would be naive to think we are the only ones in the universe.
Yes, it seems that we are destroying ourselves, but I am from the optimistic side and believe that we have just as many people, like yourself, trying to save this planet. And as we enjoy the fruits of our planet, we will save, create, or invent what is needed to keep our planet (and ourselves) alive.

Could not resist but post a reply to this…
I have come accross a pretty interesting reading just lately. The book is called “Innumeracy: Mathematical Illiteracy and Its Consequences” by John Allen Paulos. In this work the author states that he believes there is life in the universe besides our planet. Then he proves, based on the size of the universe, speed of light and other concepts from physics and mathematics, that even if the other life forms out there wanted to contact us, there is no way it would be feasible for them to reach us. I thought it was neat and depressing at the same time.
I read the older edition of the book from the 80’s or 90’s but I believe Amazon.com has a later one from 2001.
Thank you.

Dear Mr. Rewey,
Being a Christian myself, I may not agree with there being other life in the universe. However, I will agree about there being a lack of intelligent life here on Terra Firma.
It puzzles me on how people refuse to better their lives for the common good for others. I live here currently in Las Vegas, NV, and I see things that are consistantly appalling.
One thing you here from a lot of spiritual experts is that we are in an age of enlightenment. Yet, from my standpoint, it seems like it’s more like de-evolution and a spiritual void.
The biggest thing also has to do with success, bettering oneself. If one comes from a family that isn’t too successful, that person rarely gets familial support. I know, it has happened to me.
I have tried for years to find a program to achieve success in life, only to be held back, fighting all the way. I have looked into many programs and home based businesses, finding it either cost an arm and a leg to get involved or was a scam. My fiancee and I had been involved with several programs, only to get burned.
As I have said, I have been looking around for years, and have become skeptical. Yet, I look into your program and I find things that I haven’t seen in others, you have a program that hasn’t been badmouthed in any way, shape or form. This truly excites me.
I had heard of the Cash Flow business some time ago, but when I checked into that particular persons program, it was badmouthed and had trouble finding another and gave up.
Recently, like in the last several days, I came across yours online and watched the video. I was researching another person’s program, and they were badmouthed, so I typed in cash flow in the search engine and found yours, checked it out and was impressed by everything I seen.
As a habit of mine, I did my due diligence by researching and found nothing bad about you and your program, further impressing me, and seeing your magazine on your site really grooved my mind.
Everything I see proves to me your legitimacy. Even though at this time I live pay to pay, we have to borrow money on a monthly basis to make ends somewhat meet. I know your program costs several thousand dollars, but I will save every dime I can to save up for your program. I believe you have to spend money to make money, no one goes to college for free.
I seriously want to do this, I even have a plan already of what to specialize in.
I don’t really need to hear back from you, but I do want to wish you a great day.
Sincerely,
Dean Winchester
